Lance Bella founded Vertex Tactical, LLC in 2013. He serves as the company’s owner and Chief Executive Officer, utilizing his vast emergency response background to assist companies in improving their performance in the areas of emergency preparedness, security, fire prevention, safety and leadership.

Lance Bella began his career in 1984 working for various private security companies in both Pennsylvania and Indiana. He continued honing his skills and soon became the security manager for Northwest Indiana Markets Inc. As Lance served in that capacity, he also began extending his knowledge into the emergency services field by attending State of Indiana training for Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). He became a member of the Merrillville Fire Department while continuing his position with Northwest Indiana Markets.

In 1992, Lance accepted the position of Patrol Officer for United States Steel Emergency Services. This position included the duties of patrol officer, firefighter, EMT and hazardous materials specialist. In his second year, Lance was awarded Officer of the Year. He continued achieving Officer of the Year for four consecutive years, until he was promoted to a management position. He continued up the promotional ladder, serving in various emergency services and safety management capacities.

In 2008, he was promoted to Chief of Emergency Services of U.S. Steel’s three Indiana facilities. His responsibilities included all security, fire, emergency medical, investigations and executive protection duties for those facilities. The department was comprised of ninety-two emergency response personnel, with the responsibility of protecting in excess of six thousand civilian personnel over an area of ten square miles.

In 2011, Lance was promoted to Master Chief of Emergency Services for U.S. Steel’s Corporate Division. This responsibility encompassed six hundred emergency services personnel at twelve facilities. Additional responsibilities included the establishment of standard corporate procedures/policies, executive protection and corporate security audits.
